About Yonekawa

The Yonekawa district is located in the northeastern part of Tome City, bordering Fujisawa Town in Iwate Prefecture to the north, Kesennuma City and Minamisanriku Town to the east, and has an area of 73.8 square kilometers, over 85% of which is covered by forest. As of December 2012, there are 993 units and a population of 2,700.

The area is dotted with many famous historical sites and historical buildings, as well as the "Genji Fireflies of the Northern Limit", which are designated as national natural monuments, and the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, "Yonekawa no Mizukaburi". , Tome City's designated "Tsunagi no Sato Daimyo Parade" and "Iidoi Kagura" are traditional cultures inherited from our ancestors that have been passed down to the present day.
