In 1955, an old book called "Robun hei Densetsuki" was discovered in the Onodera family's (Iwaki mansion) in Tsunaginosawa. There is a section in this book called "The origin of Sankyozuka" which reveals that Christians were executed in Tsunaginosawa during the Kyoho era.
Bishop Kobayashi Arikata, who was in Sendai at the time, visited the village and saw this mound, he decided to build a Catholic church, not wanting to leave the site where 120 people were martyred as it was.
The bishop immediately flew to Canada and gave lectures in various places to collect generous donations. Based on this donation, a new monastery/church/nursery school was completed in March 1955.
