This event is a fire prevention prayer ceremony held by the men of Itsukamachi on the first day of the first horse in February every year.
The men make their own straw shimenawa ropes at the Sugawara family (called yado), dressed naked in straw costumes, painted their faces with soot, and set out en masse from yado to worship the god of fire prevention. Visit Akibayama Daigongen at Daijiji Temple. They then transforms into the god of fire.
Next, they leave the Sanmon gate and headed to the foot of Suwamori, where Daijiji Temple once stood, to pray here as well. Once on the main street of the town, they sprinkle water from the buckets they have prepared on the houses and walk, praying for there will be no fire. They visit Hachiman Shrine and Wakakusa Shrine, and spraying water on houses in back street and Sijuden etc districts, and return to yado.
Spectators along the road pull straw from the men and put it on the roofs of their houses to pray that it won't catch fire. Apart from these men, two people in the form of Okame and Hyottoko go from house to house to receive donation.

Horinzan / Daijiji Temple
Daijiji Temple is the birthplace of the strange festival "Yonekawa Mizukaburi," which prays for fire prevention, and is home to "Akiba Daigongen," the starting point for the event. It is the 14th temple of the Oshu 33 Kannon Temple built by Fujiwara Hidehira, and limited edition goshuin stamps are available on days when the "Yonekawa Mizukaburi" event is held.
